Sweet sun tea - using pre-made tea bags

Working in the garden is hard work, what better way to cool off then a ice cold glass of sweet tea!
Here is what you'll need:
  • Jar (i prefer glass jars as they will not release any potentially harmful chemicals into the drink)
  • Sugar (you can substitute white sugar for brown sugar, honey or agave but the amount will vary on your taste.)
  • Tea packets of your choice (I'm using Lipton cold brew ice tea)
  • Water
Step 1:
Pour your sugar into your jar, many sweeten after, but i prefer to sweeten while it brews because i notice a big flavor increase.) I used 1/2 cup of white sugar in each jar.

Step 2:
Fill your jar with water till just above the rim and add your tea packet(s), replace the lid tightly leaving the string out.

Step 3:
Find a nice sunny place and leave your tea out in direct sun for 2-4 hours, leaving it out longer then 4 hours increases a risk of bacteria.

Step 4:
Bring your tea in, remove your tea packets and either shake to fully blend your sugar or now add in your sweetener.  Pour over ice, or place in your fridge to chill.

Enjoy your sweet sun tea and till next time, keep raising a sustainable future!
